Hi, I’m Kwaku.

I’m a software engineer in New York, building infrastructure behind recommendations on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads at Meta.

Most of my work is on backend systems, release reliability, and tools that make other engineers’ lives easier. Previously, I worked at Scale AI and Amazon.

I want to build infrastructure that expands what people can do.

Parallel A* routing

A project I especially enjoyed at Carnegie Mellon: a C++ vehicle-routing simulator that parallelizes A* searches across vehicles with OpenMP. The OpenMP version achieved roughly 6× speedup over the sequential baseline in our benchmarks on 4,096-node graphs. The project also included a CUDA implementation, route validation, and cache profiling.

Writing

Coming soon…

My work on recommendation infrastructure at Meta keeps me close to machine learning in practice. I want to write about where AI is going: the applied uses that could genuinely improve how we live and work, and the concerns we should take seriously as these systems become more capable.

The thoughts are there.
The sentences are negotiating.
